Bun on the Run provides homey bakery classics made from scratch in the magic of our little trailer throughout the Fairbanks summer.
site by wendy Boger
The Bun opened in July of 1987 with sisters Gretchen and Ingrid Herrid at the helm. They ran the bakery for seventeen seasons making the little trailer a Fairbanks classic before retiring and passing the reigns on to Ursula and her granddaughters Gabby and Cassie. After another few seasons, bakers Summer and Liz took over with a five year plan and once that time was up they reached out to me - Wendy - who was fresh out of college. I had started working at the Bun during summer breaks when I was 14 for Ursula and continued on for Summer and Liz every season until age 19. I had then continued my passion for baking at home and working as a bread baker at the Bozeman Food Co-op while attending MSU. When the opportunity arose to take over the Bun back home I couldn’t pass it up, how many people get the chance to live out their childhood dreams? I came back to Fairbanks in April of 2014 and have been living the Bun life since.
Bun on the Run has been a staple of the west side of Fairbanks every summer for over thirty years now. It has been the in the same trailer and used the same oven and mixer since its inception. Everything is made from scratch, with love, right on site in our little trailer. Even though the Bun is one of the original food trucks on the scene, we are not mobile. You can find us rain, shine, and even sometimes snow in the Beaver Sports parking lot May through September.
